User context: Windows NT-based systems (including NT/2K/XP) and unixlike systems (including FreeBSD) share the concept of varying permissions between users. By default, the user context under which you run programs and manipulate files and/or directories - ie, the set of permissions that is checked before you are allowed to do so - is the one associated with your user account.

In some special cases, such as by using the sudo program, it may be possible to run programs or manipulate files under a user context other than your own.
