A certain media (mp3, ogg, .txt, jpeg ) flash memory device I recently mounted thusly:
1... computer on b... connect flash device to usb cable c... turn on flash device ("power and data" on its menu, vs the other modes) d... camcontrol rescan all e... mount -t msdosfs /dev/da0 /mnt
It has two modes to transfer files. One method will reformat and lose the data on your flash media device... so use MSC not MTP ( although the latter has /ports/ enabling it (mtpfs; libmtp) ).
