By July 22, 2007 - 3:08 pmThere's no doubt Windows boxes should not be used in pruooctidn environments (unless there's a need to run MS-specific applications). *nix boxes need much less maintenance and WAY less reboots.I also think *nix servers yield better performance and stability on any hardware. Sean has it right when comparing the ever-increasing resources needed by MS's operating systems, just to get the same performance as their previous one.And when it comes to server uptime, *nix servers beat Microsoft's hands down. A Linux Webserver can be for literally months before having to reboot, even when applying upgrades and patches. I can't really say the same about Windows. Can you?Ive1n
