Here is a quick config guide to getting k3b working under FreeBSD6.X<br />
<br />
==Setup IDE CDROM Drive==<br />
Load your atapicam driver to see your IDE drive as part of the SCSI system.<br />
<br />
Add this line to /boot/loader.conf<br />
atapicam_load="YES"<br />
<br />
Type the following<br />
# kldload atapicam<br />
<br />
<br />
Change /etc/fstab CDROM lines<br />
From:<br />
/dev/acd0 /cdrom cd9660 ro,noauto 0 0<br />

To:<br />
/dev/cd0 /cdrom cd9660 ro,noauto 0 0<br />
<br />
Check that your devices are showing up:<br />
# camcontrol devlist<br />
<HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4020B A106> at scbus0 target 1 lun 0 (pass1,cd1)<br />

==Setup for users==<br />
<br />
Change some file permissions<br />
# chown root /usr/local/bin/cdrecord<br />
# chmod 4711 /usr/local/bin/cdrecord<br />

For the user who you want to be able to burn, add a mount point to their home directory for the cdrom:<br />
$ mkdir ~/cd0<br />
<br />
Add it to fstab<br />
/dev/cd0c /usr/home/XXX/cd0 cd9660 ro,noauto,nodev,nosuid 0 0<br />

===Allow user mounts===<br />
<br />
add the following to /etc/sysctl.conf <br />
vfs.usermount=1 <br />
<br />
Change it manually<br />
# sysctl -w vfs.usermount=1<br />
<br />
Edit /etc/devfs.conf and add the following:<br />
own /dev/cd0 root:operator<br />
perm /dev/cd0 0666<br />
own /dev/pass0 root:operator<br />
perm /dev/pass0 0666<br />
own /dev/xpt0 root:operator<br />
perm /dev/xpt0 0666<br />

Change it manually<br />
# chmod 666 /dev/cd0<br />
# chmod 666 /dev/pass0<br />
# chmod 666 /dev/xpt0<br />

add to /etc/rc.conf<br />
devd_enable="YES"<br />

Create a temp area for CD images<br />
# mkdir /usr/cdtemp<br />
# chmod 777 /usr/cdtemp<br />
