Talk:Usr/local/etc/rc.d

wtf, wasn't there an article here before? Aren't we missing a LOT of articles from "Important Config Files" now? And for some reason some of them show up in the category page - like this one, even though there IS NO CATEGORY TAG - and others show as "uncategorized", even though there IS a category tag (like /etc/master.passwd)...

Fuck. =( --Jimbo 12:15, 17 Jul 2005 (EDT)

Possibly the tables bug. In version 1.6, a "jobs" table was added to address this problem.
The problem comes when you edit the template to use a different category. The template might be used on thousands of articles, updating the links for all of those articles would be much too slow to perform during the web request to save the article. So previous versions of MediaWiki (pre 1.6) didn't bother. The category membership wouldn't change, and it was necessary to do a "null edit" (that is, click save without making any changes), for each of the articles using the template.

rc.subr

All the system services in /etc/rc.d, and most if not all ports-installed services now refer to /etc/rc.subr. Earlier versions of FreeBSD (pre-5.x ?) that used this function library, used /usr/local/etc/rc.subr. It would be helpful I think, to discuss how this changes the startup mechanism, and how to use the subroutines in this file. Should that discussion appear in this article? if you know anything about rc.subr

please share it, I didn't even know it existed! --Jimbo 22:52, 3 May 2006 (EDT)

Glass Coffee Tables

An interesting dialogue is worth comment. I think that you need to write more on this topic, it may not be a taboo topic however typically individuals are not enough to speak on such topics, I'll check back at www.freebsdwiki.net for more! <a href=http://www.thelargecoffeetables.com/glass-coffee-tables/>glass coffee tables</a>
